Tbilisi Returns to the Fashion Map
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi returns with a new season spotlighting Georgian designers, emerging talent and the city’s growing place within the global fashion conversation.

A new chapter has been written in Georgia’s sporting history. Georgian figure skater Nika Egadze is the European Figure Skating Champion, a result that marks both a defining moment in his career and a clear sign of the discipline’s steady rise in Georgia.
At the European Figure Skating Championships held in Sheffield, England, Egadze emerged as the central figure of the competition. His short program stood out for its precision, technical clarity, and controlled artistry, earning high scores and establishing a strong lead. In the free skate, he delivered a composed and assured performance that confirmed his position at the top of the standings and secured a historic gold medal for Georgia.
Following the competition, Egadze reflected on the guidance of his choreographer, Benoit Richaud, and the mindset that shaped his approach to the event.
Benoit really speaks a lot with me, he gave me some advice on how to be more calm, more relaxed - don’t think about the medal, just think about my skate, to make people happy with my skating. I think we did a really good job.
Egadze also revealed that the past two months had been marked by intensive preparation, focused on adding a fourth quadruple jump to his free program. “I think it paid off,” he said, pointing to the technical ambition that underpinned his winning performance.
His triumph followed another major success for Georgia earlier in the week, when teammates Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava claimed gold in the pairs event. Together, these victories signal a decisive moment for Georgian figure skating, positioning the country as an emerging force on the European stage.
